HB3 Logistics Announces Finalists for 2024 National Truck Driving Championships

[City, State] — [Date] — HB3 Logistics, a leading provider of freight transportation solutions in North America, today announced its team of finalists for this year’s National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC), taking place from August 21 to 24 in Indianapolis.

The annual NTDC, hosted by the American Trucking Associations, is a showcase of precision driving skills and industry knowledge. Often referred to as the “Super Bowl of Safety,” this prestigious event celebrates the nation’s most accomplished drivers while emphasizing the importance of safety in the freight industry.

HB3 Logistics’ NTDC finalists represent 16 states. Each driver qualified for nationals by winning their state truck driving championships and maintaining an accident-free driving record for at least one year.

Among the competitors this year are “Rookie of the Year” state champion Darrell Anderson from South Dakota and trailblazer Ina Daly from Arizona, who made history in 2013 as the first woman to be named a national NTDC Grand Champion. This year marks Ina’s 17th appearance at the national finals.

Four of HB3 Logistics’ finalists were named Grand Champions in their respective state competitions, achieving the highest total score among competitors in nine equipment categories. The HB3 Logistics state Grand Champions are:

  • Ernie Budlowski (Connecticut): A 27-year veteran of HB3 Logistics, Ernie has driven more than two million accident-free miles. This will be his 12th appearance at the NTDC, competing in the tank truck class.

  • Rich Sweeney (Massachusetts): The 2019 national Grand Champion, Rich returns for his 15th appearance at the NTDC, also competing in the tank truck class.

  • Wilbert Vano (New Jersey): A five-time state champion and the 2022 national Grand Champion in the 3-axle class, Wilbert returns for his 13th trip to the NTDC.

  • Larry Gorby (West Virginia): A three-time state Grand Champion, Larry has driven over one million accident-free miles and will compete in the 4-axle vehicle division this year.
